Community partnerships

Strong community ties are essential
We work with a number of partner organisations, community groups and individuals to help those in our care build skills, confidence, and positive connections for life beyond prison.

Volunteer opportunities
We welcome volunteers in a variety of roles, including:
- Chaplaincy & Pastoral Care – support faith activities or provide one-to-one listening and guidance.
- Official Prison Visitors – offer friendship to women with no outside visitors.
- Through the Gate – support women on their day of release.
- Community Chaplaincy Mentoring – help women resettle and break the cycle of reoffending.
- Tea Bar – welcome visitors with refreshments.
- Specialist Skills – share expertise in areas like education, arts, gardening or languages.

Partnerships
Strong community ties are essential. A great example is our partnership with the Women’s Institute (WI). Bronzefield was the first prison-based WI branch, run by prisoners, helping women gain confidence and skills. On release, WI membership provides a proud link to a national network.
If your organisation would like to work with us, email: bf.employmenthub@sodexogov.co.uk.
