Property processes at HMP Bronzefield

In the first 14 days of arriving at HMP Bronzefield, prisoners can have property sent in or handed in on a visit. Between 14 days and 28 days of arrival at HMP Bronzefield,  the prisoner will require a log number from Reception which they will pass onto their visitors – the log number will only be given if the prisoner has room for more property on their property card. The visitors will then bring the property in on their next visit, once the log number has been verified at the visitors reception desk.

Prisoners have a property exchange every 6 months and, at this point, they can have 2 parcels handed in on a visit (3 parcels if enhanced) and 2 parcels sent in (3 parcels if enhanced). The prisoner will be responsible for alerting their visitor when their 6 monthly exchange date is scheduled for. At this point, the prisoner can also have items sent out or handed out on a visit to make more space on their property card.

The prisoners volumetric control entitlement is monitored closely by the Reception team and if items are sent in that are outside of their property exchange date, or that take their volumetric control over their limit then the prisoner will be asked to return to sender, at their own expense.

Items not included in volumetric control are: Legal papers, religious texts / artefacts, reasonable adjustments / disability aids, items that support transgenders (reasonable amount), items for the care of babies, one musical instrument, one set of own bedding (safety crib 7+), underwear, books, enhanced electrical items, items from Gemma records and 1 set of clothing - exceptional requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

If you are a friend or relative enquiring about property or money you have sent in then please write a letter to the prison addressed to either the Property Department or Finance Department at HMP Bronzefield, Woodthorpe Road, Ashford TW15 3JZ

If you are experiencing difficulties sending in money via the Government website, please query this on the Government website directly at https://www.gov.uk/send-prisoner-money under the Help section.

If your query is regarding what kind of items you can send into the prison,  this will be provided to you via the prisoner

If you are a former prisoner enquiring about either money or property you have at the prison, please write to the Finance / Property Department at the above address

If you have any other enquiries or questions then you can email our Correspondence Department on bf.correspondence@sodexogov.co.uk or alternatively you can write to them at the above address
